Increased urinary excretion of calcium accompanies hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D intoxication, diseases that destroy bone (such as multiple myeloma), metastasis from prostatic cancer, and following calcium supplementation. Urine calcium is increased with immobilization, with steroid therapy, with Paget disease, and in primary (idiopathic) hypercalciuria
