Millions of people have reactions to the venom of stinging insects.  Although for some the reaction is mild there are others that the reaction is severe.  Some of these reactions can even be life-threatening and can happen within minutes.  Severe reactions can cause unconsciousness, cardiac arrest, and even shock.

This panel will test for five common stinging insect allergens:

  • Honeybee
  • Paper Wasp
  • White-Faced Hornet
  • Yellow Hornet
  • Yellow Jacket

Mild reactions may cause one or more of these symptoms at the site of the sting:

  • Itching
  • Pain
  • Mild to moderate swelling
  • Redness
  • Warmth
  • Pimple like spots

Severe reactions can include:

  • Swelling of the face, throat, or mouth
  • Hives
  • Trouble breathing
  • Restlessness and anxiety
  • Rapid pulse
  • Dizziness or a drop in blood pressure
  • Trouble swallowing or wheezing
