Parietal cell antibodies are proteins that are made by the immune system and falsely target a particular type of cell that is along the stomach wall.  This test will help to identify this type of antibody and aid in diagnosing pernicious anemia.  Pernicious anemia is an autoimmune disorder and is caused by the failure to absorb Vitamin B -12.  Vitamin B-12 is essential for your body to produce a healthy amount of red blood cells.

Symptoms of pernicious anemia:

  • weakness
  • headaches
