Cereal allergies often referred to as grain allergies, is one of the most common food allergies.  Certain allergens in this group are identified by the body as a toxin and not a food causing a reaction.

This panel will test for five cereal and/or grain allergens:

  • Barley
  • Buckwheat
  • Gluten
  • Rice
  • Rye

Reactions to cereal and/or grain allergens affect the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms appear usually within minutes of contact with the allergens but if ingested on a regular basis, over several days, it may take 24-48 hours for symptoms to be apparent.

 Some symptoms may include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Bloating
  • Tiredness
  • Abdominal discomfort
  • Vitamin and nutrient deficiencies
