Allergic reactions to the venom of stinging insects are very common.  The reaction can be mild or severe.  Some of these reactions can even be life-threatening and can happen within minutes.  Severe reactions can cause unconsciousness, cardiac arrest, and even shock.

This panel will test for allergies to five common flying and stinging insects:

  • Paper Wasp
  • Yellow Jacket
  • White-Faced Hornet
  • Honeybee
  • Yellow Hornet

Symptoms of mild reactions at the sting site may be:

  • Itching
  • Pain
  • Mild to moderate swelling
  • Redness
  • Warmth
  • Pimple like spots

Severe reactions can include:

  • Swelling of the face, throat, or mouth
  • Hives
  • Trouble breathing
  • Restlessness and anxiety
  • Rapid pulse
  • Dizziness or a drop in blood pressure
  • Trouble swallowing or wheezing
