Mold consists of tiny fungus spores that are airborne. The spores tend to grow in damp environments and are found indoors and outdoors. When people with mold allergies inhale the tiny mold spores the immune system overreacts.
This panel will check for five common mold allergens:
- Alternaria alternata
- Aspergillus fernigatus
- Candida albicans
- Cladosporium herbarum
- Mucor racemosus
Mold allergy symptoms are different from one person to another. For some, the symptoms may be mild and for others, they can be severe. Some people have symptoms year-round and some have flare-ups only during certain times of the year.
Signs and symptoms of a mold allergy can include:
- Sneezing
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Cough
- Itchy eyes, nose, and throat
- Watery eyes
- Dry, scaly skin
