The Cardio IQ® Omega-3 and -6 Fatty Acids test is used to help monitor the levels of Omega markers and people with cardiovascular disease. It is also useful in identifying people who may have fatty acid deficiencies.
The Omega-3 is a type of fatty acid found in plant oils, seeds, fish oil, eggs and krill oil. The Omega-6 is also a type of fatty acids important for reducing inflammation, particularly after periods in which cell damage might occur. They both may also have a role in reducing risk in people with complications from CVD such as macular degeneration, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer.
