What is the purpose of this test?
The IgE Molds (15 IgE Molds + Total IgE) - Serum - Genova Test Kitis designed to help detect mold allergies by measuring your immune system’s IgE antibody response to 15 common mold species. When your body reacts to mold, it produces IgE antibodies, which are linked to immediate allergic reactions such as sneezing, itchy eyes, coughing, wheezing, or skin rashes. These reactions can sometimes be severe and may contribute to chronic respiratory conditions like asthma or sinusitis. This test uses a serum blood sample to provide clear insight into which molds may be triggering your symptoms.
In addition to the 15 mold-specific IgE tests, this panel also measures total IgE levels, which show your body’s general allergic sensitivity. Elevated total IgE can suggest an overactive immune system that reacts to allergens more easily. By identifying both specific mold allergies and overall allergic activity, this test gives you and your healthcare provider the tools to develop a personalized plan to reduce exposure, manage symptoms, and improve your quality of life.

Recent food avoidance may lead to absent antibody responses. Some medications, including steroids, immunosuppressants, NSAIDs, and others, may affect results. If possible, take medications or supplements after collection, but consult your physician before making any changes.
