What is the purpose of this test?
The Celiac Profile - Serum - Genova Test Kit is designed to help detect celiac disease, an autoimmune condition where eating gluten damages the small intestine. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. For people with celiac disease, the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue when gluten is eaten, leading to symptoms like stomach pain, bloating, diarrhea, fatigue, and skin issues. Left untreated, celiac disease can cause long-term health problems like nutrient deficiencies, anemia, bone loss, and infertility.
This celiac blood test checks for a combination of antibodies related to gluten sensitivity and celiac disease. It also includes a total IgA level to ensure accurate test results. By measuring several markers at once, this test gives a full picture of how your immune system reacts to gluten. This helps your doctor confirm whether you have celiac disease, are at risk, or if your symptoms might be caused by another condition like non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Early detection and diagnosis are key to managing symptoms and protecting your long-term health.
The Celiac Profile - Serum - Genova Test Kit includes:
- Total IgA: Checks your overall IgA antibody levels. This is important because low IgA levels can affect the accuracy of some celiac tests.
- Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase IgA (tTG IgA): A highly sensitive and specific marker for celiac disease. High levels suggest immune system damage triggered by gluten.
- Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase IgG (tTG IgG): Useful for people with low IgA. Helps detect celiac disease in those who may not show a typical IgA response.
- Anti-Deamidated Gliadin IgA (DGP IgA): Detects immune responses to a component of gluten. Often helpful for early diagnosis in children and adults.
- Anti-Deamidated Gliadin IgG (DGP IgG): Another important marker for gluten sensitivity, especially in people with low IgA levels.
- Anti-Endomysial IgA (EMA IgA): A highly specific test for celiac disease. Positive results often confirm the condition and are linked to intestinal damage.
Each of these analytes plays a role in identifying an immune reaction to gluten, helping diagnose celiac disease and guide treatment decisions.

Preparation:Ship collection kits Monday through Friday only. No fasting is required. For food antibody testing, patients should ideally eat a variety of foods for 2–3 weeks before the test—unless a food causes severe reactions—to help ensure accurate antibody detection. Recent food avoidance may lead to absent antibody responses. Some medications, including steroids, immunosuppressants, NSAIDs, and others, may affect results. If possible, take medications or supplements after collection, but consult your physician before making any changes.
Test Results:
