Description

Leptin plays a key role in the regulation of body weight and composition and is a peptide hormone. Overweight individuals generally demonstrate higher circulating leptin concentrations than healthy-weight and underweight participants. The leptin hormone signals to the central nervous system and peripheral organs about the bodys nutritional status (e.g., fat storage level) and interacts with other metabolic hormones.
