More Details

What is the purpose of this test?

This comprehensive panel analyzes 23 biomarkers to assess aging-related changes in hormone levels, metabolic function, and inflammatory markers. As men age, specific hormones naturally decrease in production, leading to various health conditions and symptoms that can significantly impact quality of life (Endocrine Society 2018). The testing helps identify deficiencies that may contribute to fatigue, reduced vitality, or other age-related symptoms, enabling targeted interventions to optimize health and potentially slow the aging process.

Who would benefit from this test?

Men experiencing unexplained fatigue, declining vitality, or other age-related symptoms who want comprehensive health insights without requiring physician referrals for initial testing. This panel is particularly valuable for men over 35 seeking proactive health management, those with family histories of diabetes or hormone disorders, and individuals considering hormone replacement therapy evaluation. Given that diabetes affects 18.0% of men compared to 13.7% of women (CDC 2024), comprehensive screening becomes increasingly important with age.

When should I order this panel?

Consider testing if you're experiencing symptoms potentially related to aging, want to establish baseline health markers, or are proactively managing your health as you age. The panel is particularly valuable for men over 35 seeking comprehensive health insights. For thyroid function specifically, guidelines suggest screening every 5 years after age 35 (American Thyroid Association 2000). Men aged 55-69 should discuss PSA screening benefits and risks with healthcare providers (USPSTF 2018).

How do I interpret the results?

Results should be reviewed with a healthcare provider who can interpret findings in the context of your symptoms and medical history. The comprehensive nature allows for identification of specific deficiencies that may require targeted treatment.

HbA1c Below 5.7%

  • What it means: Normal glucose metabolism
  • Typical action: Continue healthy lifestyle habits

HbA1c 5.7% - 6.4%

  • What it means: Prediabetes range
  • Typical action: Lifestyle modifications, regular monitoring

HbA1c 6.5% or higher

  • What it means: Diabetes diagnosis
  • Typical action: Immediate medical attention required

Approximately 4.5% of American adults have diabetes but remain unaware of their condition, highlighting the importance of regular screening.

Disclaimer: Reference ranges may vary by laboratory. Listed ranges are general guidelines and may differ from those used by the performing lab. Always consult your healthcare provider for interpretation.

Pre-test preparation

Fast for 8-12 hours before testing, avoiding all food and caloric beverages while maintaining normal water intake. Avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to testing. Continue regular medications unless specifically instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider. Schedule testing early morning when possible to minimize fasting duration and ensure optimal hormone level measurements.

How often should I get tested?

  • Normal baseline results: Every 2–3 years
  • Borderline abnormal results: Every 6–12 months
  • Active hormone therapy: Every 3–6 months
  • Diabetes management: Every 3–6 months
  • High cardiovascular risk: Annually

Why early detection matters

Early identification of hormone deficiencies and metabolic irregularities allows for timely interventions before serious complications develop. With prostate cancer affecting 236,659 men annually in the United States and most cases (70%) diagnosed at local stages (CDC 2021), regular screening enables optimal treatment outcomes. Similarly, early detection of prediabetes through comprehensive panels can prevent progression to type 2 diabetes through lifestyle modifications and targeted interventions.
