Description

This test helps diagnose autoimmune thyroid disease and separate it from other forms of thyroiditis.

A TAA blood test helps investigate the cause of enlarged thyroid glands (goiters) and can also be used as a follow-up evaluation when other thyroid tests, such as T3, T4, and TSH, show signs of thyroid dysfunction. When patients with known non-thyroid-related autoimmune condition (such as pernicious anemia, rheumatoid arthritis or systemic lupus erythematosus) develop symptoms that suggest thyroid involvement, multiple thyroid antibody tests are often ordered to assist in the evaluation of the condition.
